Musing Monday

This week’s musing asks…

Will you be buying books for the holidays, this year? If so, for whom, and why?

Absolutely! I'll be getting all of the latest books from TV's ghost hunters for my mom including Dark World by Zak Bagans from Ghost Adventures, Destination Truth: Memoirs of a Monster Hunter by Josh Gates and Ghost Files by Josh Hawes and Grant Wilson from Ghost Hunters.

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:

Joseph was awakened the following morning by the rising sun. He cleared the cobwebs and lifted himself into his wheelchair, using the bar above his bed.

Musing Monday

This week’s musing asks…

How do you decide to read a book by an author you haven’t read before? What sort of recommendations count most highly in making that decision?

I read Wither by Lauren DeStefano based on GRGenius' recommendation on Twitter. I was not disappointed. I loved it, and I cannot wait for the second book in the series to be released next year.

My Teaser:

Finally, as she hovered on the verge of tears, I shed my glamour and stepped out of the trees. She gasped and brightened instantly, love filling her eyes and making them shine, but I didn't cross the stream and go to her. Feigning sorrow, I stood on the opposite bank, with the woods at my back, and gave her a gentle smile.

This is home. The two of us."

Musing Monday

This week’s musing asks…

Other than for school, do you read books to learn how to do something? What was/were the topic(s)?

I did check a book out of the library to learn more about simple HTML coding for my blog.

Musing Monday

This week’s musing asks…

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

I would probably say maybe a bit less because I think the older you get, the less available free time you have. I remember as a kid flying through book series like The Saddle Club and Sweet Valley Twins.

Musing Monday

This week’s musing asks…

Do you listen to audiobooks? Why, or why not?

I had such a bad experience listening to over 10 hours of Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters on a road trip and still not making it to the ending that I don't think I'll be listening to another audio book any time soon. Too much of a time commitment is required.
